PortugalFoods is an association formed by companies, entities from the national scientific and technological system and by regional and national entities that represent the various subsectors that make up the Portuguese agrofood sector.
PortugalFoods is a “space” where these entities establish win-win relations with the end goal of producing and sharing knowledge in support of innovation and competitiveness.
PortugalFoods is the "umbrella" brand of the Portuguese agrofood sector promoted by the AgroFood Competitiveness and Technology Centre. The image must be one of uniqueness and excellence, promoting Portugal, its products, brands and companies with modernity and suited to international markets.
PortugalFoods is recognized throughout the industry, the Portuguese Ministry of Economics and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishing as the main intermediary and developer of the Portuguese agrofood sector.
The mission of PortugalFoods is to reinforce the competitiveness of the agrofood companies of the sector by increasing its technological index, promoting production, transfer, application and increased knowledge geared toward innovation and promoting internationalization of sector companies through their increased capacity for internationalization, identifying and capturing opportunities.
The PortugalFoods action plan is based on two strategic pillars, inovation and internationalization.
01Increase practical application of “knowledge” through the promotion of its active transfer, identifying key competencies in the institutions of the national and international scientific system, capturing and working knowledge, adapting it to companies’ language and needs;
02Operate as a National and International Observatory, producing reports tailored to specific Member needs and the industry in general, thereby stimulating innovation;
03Implement a real industry mentality through the promotion of dialogue and cooperation between the various public and private participants, strengthening synergies for strategic competitiveness and creating competitive advantages that ensure sustainability of companies and foster business activity;
04Promote internationalization of agrofood sector companies through active support, qualification for internationalization, identifying and capturing opportunities through business intelligence, an environment favourable to creating and developing new technological companies, along with scientific and highly qualified employment;
05Increase and develop an environment favourable to the creation and development of new technological companies, along with scientific and highly qualified employment.
